That being said, you don’t need expensive equipment to create these things; you just need your phone. Free apps like Boomerang and Hyperlapse give you the ability to create repeating GIFs and time-lapse videos.
Creative on a budget. Now that you have a way to capture your content, you need to make it look good. You don’t need a full studio to do this, once again you just need to use what’s around you. No marble countertop? Try a piece of foam and contact paper. Can’t seem to get steady footage? Simple phone tripods are inexpensive, but super effective. No access to studio lighting? Luckily for us, natural lighting can be just as good, if you’re mindful of it. You can get a beautiful image or video by shooting right in front of a window when the sun is out, just be careful to check for exposure and shadows!
Remix your own assets. If you’re starting to worry about your social network, it’s a very big possibility that you already have some images or videos on your website that you’ve used to build up your brand. Keep using them! A simple image or video can be cut, edited, or have graphics added to it, and can work for online ads. If you have content already, it’s in your best interest to utilize it as much as possible. Besides the content you’ve created as a company, you have another huge asset: your customers! Using photos that your customers have taken with your brand or product is a great way to show your business in action.
Build a content schedule. It’s a pretty well known fact that life is easier with a plan, and social media is no different. You need to be able to post consistently on social media, and having a content schedule for a week/month/quarter is a great way to make sure that your audience is always seeing new and engaging content. Facebook’s Blueprint and Business sections of their website (facebook.com/blueprint and facebook.com/business, respectively), are awesome tools for helping businesses create, structure, post, and schedule content. And both free!
