As of March 2017, ½ of adults check their phones 30 times a day. In all of those checks, 1 out of 5 minutes spent on a phone is spent in the Facebook world (i.e. Instagram, Whatsapp, and Facebook). We essentially live our lives on social media, so it’s important to be able to interact with the people following your socials. The best way to do this is by using video content.
Think about how many videos you see on your Facebook feed every single day. Videos that are shared by your friends, families, and pages you’ve “liked”. Think about how many of those you stop scrolling for, even if it’s only for the first few seconds. Probably more than you’d expect!
The fact of the matter is that Video Is The New Black for social media platforms. Video is the best way to both attract and retain an audience in the huge pool that is the internet.
When people watch your video content, they’re more likely to “like”, comment, and share, which increases your viewership. When someone engages with your post on Facebook, that post shows up on their friends’ News Feeds, meaning that an entirely new group of people (who wouldn’t have seen your content before) are now seeing it.
So if video means engagement and engagement means a bigger audience, why wouldn’t you start integrating video into your social?
So now you know you want to start posting videos. There’s one thing you need to keep in mind before you do so. Your video is 1000% more likely to be shared if it’s uploaded to Facebook, rather than linked. (Source) That’s right. Literally 1000% more likely. So it may be easier to just insert the link to the video from your website, but the extra time will pay off if you upload directly to the site.
